We are coming up to the end of Q1 2018! 🙂 Working in finance for many years taught me to break the year in quarterly segments. If you are a numbers person you will probably relate. 🙂 Each quarter, I carve out time to reflect on what I accomplished or haven’t accomplish the past 3 months. I then reflect on where I am at today, how I feel and how I am going to move forward to reach my goals and vision for my life, work and relationships for that year.
The beginning of each year is always an exciting time for me. I get the chance to start fresh! I am also born in January, so that makes it even more special. I have to admit I love my birthday!
So, with the excitement of the new year, I along with most people in this world set goals. We create new year resolutions, get excited about life and what’s in store for us that year. And then…
Somehow along the next month or two, life happens. We fall back to our old behavior patterns and lose sight of what we have committed to and what we want. Along this process we tell ourselves that we tried to make a change, however it didn’t work, or that we don’t have the time, or we don’t have the money, or it’s not the right time for us or that it’s taking too long.
Every time I hear someone tell me, it’s not the right time, yikes! And yes, sometimes it’s not the right time, but truthfully that’s the case for 5% of the people. For the rest of us, if we want to change something in our life or reach a goal it’s never going to be the right time, it’s about making it work and moving forward.
Another big misconception of our time is that we believe in overnight success and instant gratification. There is no such thing as overnight success, or instant gratification! If you want to achieve anything meaningful in your life it’s going to take time. For example, people sometimes tell me that I am an overnight success, however I have prepared and worked hard for years to have my lifestyle. It didn’t just happen! And I am not saying that everything is going to take years, however don’t buy into the instant gratification hype, it doesn’t work. It just leaves you depleted and disappointed. Always remember everything is a process with progress, where sometimes you move one step forward, two steps back and then move 5 steps forward.
With this, I am going to encourage you to move towards achieving your goals in your life, work or relationships in 2018. So, my challenge for you is to take moment to reflect and journal about the following:
- Where are you in your life, work and relationships in this very moment?
- What where your life, work and relationship goals at the beginning of 2018?
- What have you done the past 3 months to achieve your life, work and relationships goals?
- Have your goals changed and what are some setbacks and challenges you have been dealing with this year?
Once you reflect and journal about your experience thus far, I would suggest you take 10 minutes, put on some relaxing music and meditate on the following question. What are my next steps to achieve my goal (take a specific goal)? Listen to you intuition and hear what comes up for you. Taking a moment to quiet the mind and ask yourself this question is one of the most powerful things you can do.
From my experience there are two things that helped me take my business 100% online at the end of 2016, which allowed me to step into my authenticity, tap into my creativity, and provide a lifestyle with location and financial freedom. One is taking the time to question what it is that I really want and staying true to this and the other is rewiring my brain to a default state of abundance and prosperity.
And I know if I can do this, so can you. If you are ready to reach your goals in 2018 and create a lifestyle you desire comment I’m ready in the section below.
