One thing I’ve learned over the years is that change is inevitable and you need to deal with it. At times change is exciting and you love every moment of it. However, at other times it’s uncomfortable, and just not fun to deal with in that very moment you are going through it. Can you relate?
As far back as I could remember, my life had always been filled with change.
One of the earliest changes I went through was at the age of 8, when I moved to Los Angeles from Skopje. I will never forget my very first memory of Los Angeles, which was stepping into the parking lot of LAX. Wow, I thought, how is this possible? Everything is so big! Even today, I can vividly remember the ride home from the airport because everything seemed so grand and like out of a movie. The long, wide freeways, and the distance it took to get from one place to the other. I remember thinking to myself is this really possible!?
And from there change was an inevitable part of my life. From when I stepped foot in Los Angeles, till now I have lived in 6 different cities around the world and changed 3 careers. I started from scratch each time I changed a city or started a new career. So, going through change has it’s rewards where you grow and develop into the person you’re meant to be, however it also has challenges along the way.
Because of my experience of constant change, I’m sharing with you 3 things that helped me get through change when it was uncomfortable, and painful at times.
- Have trust that whatever is happening in your life is for the best, even though it might not feel comfortable or easy in that given moment. You typically go through something because there is a lesson you need to learn or have to pave the way for others, etc. As Steve Jobs said, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” I absolutely agree with Steve’s advice and indeed it has never let me down, as well. I encourage you to always remember that when you are going through something challenging, something you rather not deal with try to always connect to trust.
- Find the positive in the uncomfortable situation and watch your perspective shift. Try to find at least 3 things that are positive in the situation you are dealing with. If you spend some time and connect to positivity, you will find it.
- Create a vision for what is next or where you want to be. At times this might seem so far out of reach, or impossible, but by shining energy on what you want the outcome to be, you can create miracles. Remember where your focus goes, energy flows.
One of the most challenging things to do in life is to accept a situation that is uncomfortable or doesn’t feel right that it’s happening to you. However, if you decide to shift your perspective and trust the process, you will eventually be led down a different path, a path of blessings.
